50 Shades of Grey wasn't the agonizing experience I was expecting. It was actually mildly diverting in the way a Red Shoe Diaries episode on Cinemax would be. I have never, nor would I ever read the books, so I have no idea whether this film is an adequate cinematic rendering of the opener, but despite being laughably bad, it does pass the time. The much hyped sex scenes didn't strike me as particularly controversial at all. I mean tied hands, a blindfold and a little […] spanking aren't exactly that taboo these days are they? Granted most of us aren't utilizing a decked out, billionaire sado-chamber, but all the talk is really much to do about nothing. In addition to not being controversial, the sex scenes aren't that titillating either. A lot of nudity but nothing different than cheesy, softcore, except with Beyonce on the soundtrack. I understand why millions of women indulged in this naughty literary fantasy worldwide and why it opened to huge box office numbers, so enjoy yourselves ladies, but please don't for a second pretend any of it is any good.
