    Five Easy Pieces

One of Jack Nicholson's early great roles. This nifty film sees him as an iconic cad and shiftless drifter, a man with no sense of responsibility either to family or his romantic encounters, this one with the late, great Karen Black.  Spoiler alert - click to reveal textThe film is perhaps best known for one insanely absurd restaurant scene with a waitress as he orders a chicken salad sandwich en route to visiting his ailing father with g. f. in tow and two other friends! Jack was nominated for this film and three other films before winning the first of three Oscars for ' One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest ' in 1975. Good film but I don't sit too well with the anti-hero situation!
