A disastrous, controversial picture since it premiered at Cannes and met with much disapproval not to mention the ire of the Royal Family of Monaco. To be totally honest, this is a pretty bad film, much like the film DIANA with Naomi Watts that bombed as well big time. I thought Grace of Monaco was not going to get theatrical release, going directly to DVD, but it did show up in some key spots for the briefest of time, heading directly for the DVD bins almost immediately! I think it was a brazen film to make as the facts and dirty laundry of the Royals might not be accurate. But I'm not so NAIVE as to think this was a peaceful household with no problems. Grace had to struggle with life at a point in life. It was all too much for her! Her children, especially the girls were wild cards, uncontrollable, often remarried and generally troublesome. Did she remain in love with the Prince? I often wonder if Princess Grace could go back in time, would she do it all over again? And to die so young in that motor car accident? Who knows what really went on between Mother and daughter, Stephanie?
It's unfortunate that a once anticipated film about one of the most glamorous stars of Hollywood and Future Princess of Monaco could turn out so disastrously. I would weigh every action and word so to come to your own conclusion of truth. The producers of this film made a tragic mistake in the manner they wanted the story told. It backfired on them big time. By the way, Nicole looks ravishing as the Princess, but that does not a movie make.
