    Life of a King

Using CHESS as a springboard, this film ultimately conveys something noble and decent. Cuba Gooding Jr. hasn't had many hits, if any, since his OSCAR turn in JERRY MaGUIRE, a curse pretty common among Oscar Winners. Life of a King examines an ex-con's decency in his struggle to help with the hopelessness of teens in the nation's capital. Knowing D. C. quite well, the staggering wave of every kind of crime and violence staggers the mind. If the situation is beyond redemption, this effort is a step in the right direction.
