    Looking for Mr. Goodbar

WOW! So impressed in just having seen the controversial LOOKING FOR Mr. GOODBAR which all deals with the seamier side of life and its dire consequences. RICHARD BROOKS has captured brilliantly the very intent of the novel. He does not vere into any ridiculous extras. DIANE KEATON in one of her first dramatic roles is flawless as the hopeless young woman who takes on a deadly night game. Tuesday Weld who gave an Oscar Nominated performance as the sister delivers one of her finest performances. I think you will be overcome by a shockingly young RICHARD GERE whose part can't even be hinted at. Aside from all this talent every actor's contribution to the film is an important one: from Julie Harris, young Tom Berenger Levar Burton, William Atherton and the more seasoned Richard Kiley... hardly an old dude back in 1977. The film kept me spellbound. I would be lying if I stated that I was not moved to a state of discomfort. GOODBAR is a traumatic film that apparently was pretty scandalous in 1977.
