    Love Letters

A wonderful dramatic romance with more than a touch of the thriller and a melodramatic plot that was very much to my liking. It's WW II Italy as Alan (Joseph Cotton) writes love letters for a buddy not adept with the right phrase. This is very reminiscent of CYRANO DE BERGERAC in several parts of the French play. Once the war is over, back in England, (the bulk of the film,) things twist and turn to an incredible finish. Jennifer Jones and a stellar Joseph Cotton could not be any better. I love these films from the 40's.
