Anyone with eyes can plainly see Scarlett Johansson is gorgeous and you should never underestimate the box office potential of a bombshell in high heels kicking some serious male ass. Her work as Black Widow in the Marvel universe has clearly positioned Johansson as a bankable female action star, that being the only logical explanation for why a dud like Lucy opened to the huge numbers it did. The film begins well enough, but much like the similarly plotted Limitless, has absolutely nowhere to go after the principle plot device is revealed. Morgan Freeman continues to play the role of the guy who can explain the unexplainable to all us dull normals without sounding snooty or condescending, but even he seems pretty bored with the material. Some funny moments and a decent car chase help a bit, but even with Johansson's sex appeal this is a completely forgettable actioneer.
