As was usual, Orson Welles had financial woes on this picture and most of his films that were not made within the studio system with him as director. He had long been barred from all Hollywood Studios so a Welles fil was always a grueling event. This is a noble effort with Jeanette Nolan as his Lady, Dan O'Herilhy as Banquo and Roddy McDowall as Macduff. It shows Welles's genius but it never took flight as most of his personal films. It is a film rarely if ever seen. Money problems, as stated, did not always make for the greatest continuity as the film started and went on hiatus die to lack of funds. The set decoration is mysterious and very suitable. I doubt anyone living today has seen this Macbeth.
