    Maps to the Stars

I simply don't understand how easily viewers get turned off by a movie that exposes real situations not just of a particular group like the Hollywood crowd, but issues that exist universally. Yet they can sit through all the violence, everything blown to bits, abusive language, sexually gratuitous films and more without a word of complaint. The answer for me is quite simple. They are afraid to look at anything that might touch on or smack of situations too close to home or they don't want their pristine lives even remotely connected or associated with difficulties which very much touch all lives in one way or another. I'm appalled by the reaction to this Cronenberg film, a so-called film crowd still afraid of what this man has to say. My word to you is SHAME! Grow up and face the reality of this imperfect world filled to overabundance with every imaginable mental or physical dysfunction. I wasn't exactly comfortable with Cronemberg's last film COSMOPOLIS but I was tolerant enough to at least try to understand that world. There are a too many disgruntled people regarding MAPS which gives me the CREEPS THE MOVIE NEVER DID! Jove be praised, the film was at least critically well received. Julianne Moore won the Palme d'Or as BEST ACTRESS at the Cannes Film Festival, 2014 for MAPS. She is also nominated for a SAG Award and she has two Nominations at the Golden Globe Awards. Yes the movie is crowded with almost every type of unimaginable controversy, some pretty horrific scenes, if you will, BUT for once can people stop focusing on themselves, what makes them uncomfortable, what they feel is nasty... and try to be more objective with our big ugly world and its multitude of frailties. The great French writer André Malraux wrote The Human Condition in an attempt to outline the gravity of our existence, the horrors that surround us. Yet what was key most in his mind, make no mistake of this, is that we not lose our humanity that differentiates us from lower forms of life. Cannot people have more empathy for the million problems that surround us. It's always about their comfort level, the hell with anything else. If we cared more for one another, helping each other in times of difficulty, the world would not be in its present gigantic mess. Be an adult for once! Stop whining about the things you don't like, people who might disgust you, situations you find appalling. You are as much of the problem as the very matters you continue to dismiss. It's so very easy to turn a blind eye; so simple to ignore humanity. Try understanding! Try being a bit more HUMAN! It's never too late! MAPS is not easy but it is truthful. It's a creepy world out there. If you turn a blind eye to disorders or controversies, we are all the worse for it.
