    Mutiny on the Bounty

Marlon Brando apparently was quite 'berserk' by the time they started shooting the 1962 MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY. It's such a self-indulgent film, in which Brando directs himself with disastrous consequences. 1962 reports state it was impossible to reason with Brando just 10 years after his triumph in STREETCAR! My God! He was an atrocious Christian. Thankfully Trevor Howard as Captain Bligh provided some meaty acting. Brando apparently went millions and millions of dollars over budget for MGM and the result is nothing but garbage. Thankfully we have the old 1935 version, so well acted, in which Charles Laughton, Clark Gable and Franchot Tone were all nominated as OSCAR BEST ACTOR. This is a feat that can never be duplicated again.
