Robert Altman's big, bold vision for a movie surrounding the idea of the Grand Ole Opry. Some faces were well known, others not at all, but the film meshed together so well to drive home several ideas and premises of then America. The actors wrote their own songs and the Keith Carradine song: "I'm Easy" took the best song of the year for a film. I'm afraid Lili Tomlin did not win an Oscar in this her first film and to date she has never won an Oscar. Ronee Blakely also nominateed with Tomlin for Best Supporting Actress was especially effective.
