    Out in the Dark

Israel is earning quite the reputation for the number of gay films it is producing, unusually high for a country that small. But then homosexuality has never been an issue in Israel, one of the first nations that MADE homosexual men and lesbian women serve in the Military like all heterosexual men and women. This very convincing first feature film of Michael Mayer has gone on to some striking accolades. The film is spoken in Hebrew and Arabic and tells the love tale of an Israeli lawyer and a Palestine student. Now simply imagine the difficulty of such a relationship with the eternal tensions between Israel and Palestine. I thought the film was very delicately handled; it is a thought provoking film with its basis in a monstrous Middle East situation. The intrigue of this gay themed movie could not be of a higher calibre!
