PINK FLAMINGOS which was made way back when I was a teen and not permitted to see it by law, became a bit of a fascination for I had a pretty good idea of what it entailed. Certainly it can be categorized as a trashy, unwholesome film, but John Waters is always one to push the envelope and he certainly did with this outlandish feature starring the fascinating, late Divine. This film might be somewhat filthy but it is not made solely as a garbage fest. John Waters was somewhat delving into the harrowing experience into which society had fallen. This film is NOT for the majority of film viewers, but millions have seen it and then complain of its foul nature. My rebuttal is not to see what offends you and if you do, don't complain. It's total and complete hypocrisy. I have some issues with the film as well, but I understand the entire logic of making this type of feature and take it at face value. Watch it on DVD ONLY if you understand the repercussions of this film in pushing many, many boundaries.
