This oddity of a film was screened on Turner. Though I knew about the film, I had no idea what was in the works. The novel on which it was based was a tremendous success, but the film lacks some good screenwriting and directorially it seems to be a bit off or aimless. Obviously this is not a film for which Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward are best known. Of great interest was to see a disarmingly young JOAN COLLINS in her second American film. The whole subject of marriage and an all too eager neighbour (Collins) is somewhat interesting. From a 2015 point of view, some parts of the film simply don't work. I love Mr. & Mrs. Newman, but this wasn't necessary viewing.
