I am sorry to disagree with the other reviewers but I found this movie lacking in a variety of areas. As with all action movies we are expected to suspend some imagination, which I did. This movie could take a page from the Rocky Balboa series, AND I think that it was trying to. However, the director needed to build up every on-screen relationship. The child is parachuted into the main characters life and everything is peachy... The child actually knows more than his father about robots and boxing it would seem. As for the reason people are going to this movie is the fight scenes. There were only a handful. To me there was little attempt at building the suspense as with Rocky. We watched Balboa develop and take on many fighters in most of the movies. It was too incredulous that this robot would fight the "champion" robot after only fighting a couple of times. We needed to build up a hatred for the bad guy, which seemed to be an afterthought. And finally on the technical side the director or editors made an obvious error when the robot was shadowing-- Sometimes he would use the same hand as Jackman for punching while at others it would use the opposite hand. While Jackman is throwing lefts the robot is throwing rights... Trivial point but come-on Man. This will appeal to a very young audience. All the robots look great although they should have had a few of them "blow up real good" during the fights. I suppose there is enough action for many-- There just isn't enough story.
