This is a unique and phenomenal suspense/mystery film directed by Alfred Hitchcock. What an original view of life in general where you are literally looking into the lives of people through a window. In turn, the window acts as a mirror into your own life so to speak. The story is masterfully written filled with suspense, mystery, drama, general life talk, and humour. This movie is well known for its exceptional camera shots, first rate set design, and outstanding film editing. The fact that a motion picture can tell a whole story with so much intrigue strictly from one location is brilliant. Very few films also use silence so effectively in a story. Let’s not forget the actors in this movie. James Stewart is great in the central role. Grace Kelly, Raymond Burr, etc… and all the other actors give strong performances as well – whether they speak or don’t speak. Watching this film, it is easy to see why Hitchcock is considered as one of the best directors of all time. What a memorable and distinct film!
