    Scent of a Woman

No matter how good SCENT of a WOMAN is in this 1992 adaptation, it cannot equal the Italian version POFUMO DI DONNA which starred Vittorio Gassman in what Al Pacino would play and ultimately win an Oscar. However. I'm taking very little away from this Hollywood version which did outstanding work to re-create the Italian masterpiece. The results when re-creating a film from a foreign language have never quite topped Scent of a Woman. Some say Al Pacino overplayed his role, but that is irrelevant to me. He is the movie in a nutshell! Besides, after all his Oscar nominations prior this film and a few after this film, it is a very good thing that Mr. Pacino, an outstanding actor of stage and screen should be so honoured by OSCAR!
