Sex Tape must have sounded like a winner when it was pitched. After all what guy doesn't want to see Cameron Diaz in itty bitty panties, a see-through shirt wearing rollerskates? Throw in a likeable co star in Jason Segel and a raunchy plot that should appeal to couples married or not and whats not to like? Well the answer would be almost everything. This movie is completely empty and serves as nothing more than an elongated advertisement for IPads, which end up being far more prolific than plot points. The ever effervescent Diaz can sell anything, but she can't work miracles. And miracles are what would be required to make a film with no third act and a plot that could be summed up in less than a sentence into a success. There are amusing moments and I didn't exactly hate seeing Diaz in various states of undress, but nevertheless, a poor excuse for a comedy, even by today's standards.
