Best Bond ever? That's going too far I think but it's really good and Bardem makes an excellent creepy villain with issues. His rat story upon making his appearance is note perfect. Pacing seems a tad longer than necessary but you know if you look at the whole of the Bond experience a lot of the movies tend to be too formulaic, even for a genre series, especially the Moore films though that wasn't his fault, e. g, Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker are basically retreads of You Only Live Twice which itself was a retread (though better in my book) of Thunderball. Don't miss the juvenile humour of many of earlier films either, which really started with Diamonds Are Forever. So this is a more grown up Bond and Craig sells it; the Empire is bloodied but unbowed. Best line is perhaps: "Welcome to Scotland!"
