    Snow White and the Huntsman

How in the heck is it that there are _still_ people who don't know enough not to jabber throughout a movie? Not little kids either, but two 20-something women. And how about those cell phones, folks? I swear I'm gonna take some bear spray to movies from now on to use on the IDIOTS that keep annoying whole theatre sections with their rudeness and ignorance. Okay the movie... I liked it a great deal. It's gorgeously shot (although with almost more blurry camera movement than I can stand) and beautifully realized. There were a few moments of unreality that jarred me a bit (I can accept an evil queen turning into a flock of birds, but not Kirsten Stewart _running_ up a whole bunch of stairs in plate armour) but the story carried me over the rough spots. Charlize Theoron is amazing, most everyone else is good or very good. I'm not totally sold on Kirsten Stewart as the icon of beauty and virtue, but I didn't dislike her in the role of Snow White either. ONE OUTSTANDING TOUCH were the dwarves in this movie. To say anything much about them might spoil it for you (I hadn't read anything about them, so I was delightfully surprised) but for me they were practically the best part of the movie... the icing on a very fine cake. Enjoy! (and watch for the dwarves...)

O my gosh... your bear spray comment... I couldn't help but shamefully howl with laughter.

I agree with your comments regarding other patrons ignorance. I now have a red lazer-light attached to my key chain. Whenever someone lights up their phone I simply lazer the device. I have had to do it only once, but it is very effective. Of course for safety reason I do not aim it at their eyes... just the phone. It does not disturb anyone else in the theater. You could never expect the theater employees to monitor this chronic problem. (They too have a chatting problem, especially when you are waiting to buy that in-expensive theater food, and your movie has just started...)

I agree completely about the damned cell phones. What you should do is report the morons to the theatre management and if they don't throw them out immediately you should demand your money back and boycott that cinema -- and tell them that you will do so and that you'll encourage all you know to do likewise. I have done this in past and was not satisfied with, "Well, if we didn't actually see them do it (they always seem to know when management is checking in) then we can't really do anything about it." Movie theatres are losing out to Netflix and iTunes and other options because the experience is ruined by the cell phone junkies; if the cinemas go bankrupt then my response is," ... we can't really do anything about it." Unless and until the cinema managers get downright aggressive about maintaining an entertaining environment we should spend our money elsewhere.
