    Southpaw

I was expecting a lot more from this film, but then I should have known better as a boxing film is a boxing film is a boxing film. Ever since Rocky, These boxer themed movies are pretty well all in the same mold with a minor tweak or two. I must say that after losing some 30 pounds for NIGHTCRAWLER, which was fabulous, JAKE is in the best shape of his life with a body and abs that I would kill for. I think that was the very best part of the film. Everything else is so predictable. Forrest Whittacker in a supporting role does some very good work and I wouldn't be surprised were he to get an Oscar Nomination. The problem with this is that Sothpaw will probably long be forgotten by the time the nominations come out in January of 2016. I must admit the choreographic scenes for the final match were superbly filmed. But there was not enough to the film to score it highly!
