    Straw Dogs

I'm pretty shocked at the reviews to this film. I saw the 2011 remake with James Marsden, Kate Bosworth, James Woods and Alexander Skarsgard before going to the original 1971 film with Dustin Foffman and Susan George directed by Peckinpah. The original English setting of the novel is now set in the deep South which works a lot better than the English setting! The creepy, violent Southern men play more realistically than the "jerks" in the English countryside. I preferred the remake by a nose. The whole sordid affair in this hick town becomes mean, nasty and ugly big time with frightening confrontations. The feature is a dramatic thriller in every sense of the word. I was on the edge of my seat. If you did not like this version, try the Peckinpah original. I still can't get over all the poor reviews!
