Meh. It's Spiderman. There's nothing new or exciting here; some slightly different storylines, but ultimately fails to deliver anything worthwhile. Pretty slow throughout, which is expected, but even with the actions scenes, I felt no real suspense or creativity within. Some things just didn't make any sense, either, like having highschool students interning at a cutting-edge genetics lab with access to highly sensitive equipment and experiments... yeah. Over all, it seemed like a Spiderman geared to highschool students, or maybe a cross of Spiderman with those vampire movies. Pretty disappointing, overall. I found the Peter Parker character kind of arrogant and annoying, not really what I expect from him. I guess that was the reboot talking. I think it just goes through the motions because it's Spiderman and everyone is going to go see it, regardless. There's nothing new here, and in fact, nothing better than the first Spiderman movie, not even close. A love story with no real character build up, a battle with no real tension, a cop chase with no real direction, action with no real point, plot development with no real effort, a finale with no real closure; everything's just too easy. Meh. I don't know, maybe I'm being too fussy here, but I was uninspired throughout. The best part for me was the Stan Lee scene, that was funny. I saw it in AVX, too, which was nothing special, either. It was like a cheap suit, it looks nice on the shelf, but it never quit looks, or feels right when you put it on. That's what this Spiderman is, a cheap suit.
