This is an intriguing and compelling movie about a hitman in the "winter" of his career. George Clooney (as "Jack") in a performance of great subtlety may have a shot at an oscar nomination. There are lovely ladies and the beauty of the lush Italian countryside with the picturesque villages amongst the hills make me want to fly there now. Clooney's character is seeking a way out and is searching for redemption. I love the way this movie unfolds in a delberate pace allowing us to get to know this character more intimately. We learn that Jack has expertise as an arms builder and a fondness for butterflies. This film is a great existentialist experience and it reminds me of another great movie in this vein-The Passenger (1975) with Jack Nicholson. Finally, a movie for mature adults. One of the year's best.
