    The Blue Dahlia

This 1946 'film noir' starring then super-duper superstar Alan Ladd and the incomparable Veronica Lake works like a charm in the hands of director George Marshall from the amazing pulp fiction of Raymond Chandler. William Bendix is along for the ride yet again in a Ladd film. Ladd is out to prove his innocence in this murder caper that proves thrilling as most 'noir' features do. What is a shear dream is the black and white cinematography which always creates the most outstanding of ambiances for this genre of film. The use of camera angles, night shadows, the frisky dialogue and the necessary femme fatale make this quite a fantastic yarn.
