    The Cradle Will Rock

Tim Robbins's film about the Clifford Odetts play " The Cradle Will Rock " has a very good premise... the closing of many plays as they are about to open on Broadway or the closure of Broadway plays after just a few performances. This is quite the reality whether the setting is the 1930's as in this film or new plays and musicals which opened and closed within a few months during 2015. I love the idea that great actors will risk it all to make sure the play does go on. The problem with the film, however, is that it is rather disjointed, meandering at times to the point of boredom. A very good try on a theme rarely attempted in a movie but it does not work as well as I would have wanted.
