    The Deep Blue Sea

This remake of "The Deep Blue Sea" (last made in 1955 with Vivien Leigh) resonated with me on several levels. I missed it when first released, but it works very well as a DVD home view. If the film is slow moving it's as it should be as this is not an action piece but rather one of mood and character. The reality of the entire piece is a sad one. The characters seem tortured and I related to their vulnerability. Slow and moody does not mean boring so I'm rather surprised by the reaction to the film. I found it praiseworthy.
