    The Flowers of St. Francis

St. Francis was a living example of humility, compassion, faith and sacrifice. A man who conducts himself in this manner may well generate derision from the less pious. Thus, Rossellini's original title of 'God's Jester'. Rossellini has told St. Francis' story, therefore, in vignettes showing examples of the goodness of his character and the the success of his teachings amongst his followers rather than the story of his life. This film has been described as a spiritual adventure.
