    The Great Gatsby

I saw the film without 3D and quite liked it! It is definitely worth seeing. Put the book and the Redford-Farrow version out of your mind and see it as a fresh new film. Musical score was a disappointment for a Baz Luhrman film. His long-term collaboration with Craig Armstrong (who did get a 'credit' on the film) was overshadowed by Jay Z's 'involvement'. Music was lacking and/or not in many key scenes. Visually the film is incredible. The performances - with the exception of Leonardo's passion - are lacklustre and a little stiff and boring. I enjoyed the sets and party scenes more than the plot or the characters. My advice: empty your bladder, buy a huge tub of popcorn, sit back and just absorb it all. On your way home, buy a copy of The Great Gatsby (if you don't already have one) and read a modern masterpiece - the F. Scott would have wanted you to.
