    The Help

Viola Davis who plays Aibileen the uneducated, but intelligent black maid who looks after 17 white babies is a well respected stage actor and her acting is so natural, that you can begin to understand the situation of someone who could be jailed or even killed for making even the slightest protest. This is something she has endured all her life, not just for a couple of years during wartime. I am sure that she will be an Oscar contender next year. The sense of time and place is also very good. I am reading the book at the same time.
