The Hobbit is a story without the scope and drama of the Lord of the Rings. It shouldn't be a surprise to viewers, then, that it doesn't have the same weightiness or intensity as the Lord of the Rings series. The Hobbit is an adventure story, not the apocalyptic affair of the LOTR. In light of this, I think the Hobbit did quite well. It was a bit slow in parts but when the action happened it was thoroughly entertaining. I particularly enjoyed the game of riddles between Bilbo and Gollum. Very much what I had envisioned as a child reading the Hobbit for the first time. I think this movie delivered the adventure and fun it promised very well. Check it out!
