    The Jungle Book

This film's very good looking, excellent design and CGI effectuation. Nicely paced, and well scripted, but it's not THE Jungle Book.

I'd seen and loved the original Disney version, a birthday treat when I was a lad. Memory I hold as valuable.

This isn't as credible for me. My adult idea is that Kipling wrote an "Anglo-Indian" tale, and this variant is far too American.

Mowgli sounds like he's been hanging around the mall in L. A., despite a decent acting job.

The use of stars, rather than actors most suitable, flaws this for me.

Baloo could've been Hugh Bonneville, Kaa which was not distinguishing as Scarlett J. might've shone with Sarita Choudray. Irrfan Khan as Akela and so on.

Christpher Walken was pretty good as King Louie, but Louis Prima ( initially thought Armstrong, a trick of memory, but was corrected ) is a tough act to follow. It is the one role that has a true US resonance, Morgan Freeman possibly?

Fun, and fine enough, but Favreau's take that this is a hip American cadence yarn, is too far for me to reach.

The '60s Disney version is classic, this is merely another movie.
