This 1951 crime comedy from the great Ealing Studio in London produced many wonderful comedic films from the late '40's well into the 1950's. This cracking story deals with a mild bank clerk who oversees the shipment of buillon. Alec Guiness is in top most form as the clerk who joins forces with a motley crew of men for a devious plan leading to unexpected twists and turns. Alec Guiness earned an Oscar Nomination as the lowly, humble clerk. T. E. Clarke, the writer won an Oscar for the screenplay and its director Charles Chricton was nominated by the Director's Guild of America for this delicious, witty British film.
