    The Miracle Worker

The Miracle Worker is a miracle of a film. Everyone knows it deals with Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, her teacher, the great woman who opened the deaf, dumb and blind Keller's mind and life forever. As portrayed by Oscar Winners Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke, we see the hardship of family life trying to cope with such a child and young teen. Bancroft and Duke were both repeating their Broadway triumphs on film, slugging it out physically and emotionally. A glorious film! Your heart will break as Helen Keller finally comes to learn and associate with the things in her reality. It all starts with the understanding of what "water" is... as she desperately utters the sound of "wa-wa"!
