This cheap B movie of 1939 must have been pretty well the last of the great Bogie's junk films. I'm surprised he's even in this one, but he would have no choice if given the assignment by Jack Warner. 1939 marked quite the year for Bogie as he co-starred with Bette Davis in Dark Victory and made quite the impression. The 40's saw BOGIE REBORN. I'm pretty shocked this so called thriller was directed by Vincent Sherman. It must have been one of his first directorial efforts as it's a creepy, creaky film that does not hold up in anyway! Are you supposed to laugh during a thriller? There's my point!
