Well, I came to see this movie with high expectations given all the hype and awards received and nominated. So why the lower rating... I believe the movie was great in parts and lacking in others. The fight scenes were incredible, the story line very good and the acting above par. Lacking was a poor music scoring, cinematography that was excellent at times and way overdone at other times... how many views of looking up at tree tops is necessary, overly drawn scenes out that hurt the movie's pacing, and the survival elements just beyond belief. This took something away from the anguish and made it feel contrived. Am I glad I went, yes, but this is not a repeat viewing in my estimation.

Totally agree… you've summed up how I felt about this movie. Do you think heavy breathing and endless grunting deserves an Oscar nom for DiCaprio?
