The Seventh Son

I thought wrongly that The Seventh Son might be of some merit because of a powerhouse cast. How mistaken can one possibly be!!!

Not only am I REALLY tired of fantastical tales that involve dark, magic powers which will eventually lead to some sort of clash with mankind, but this particular film bugged me for quite a few reasons. Foremost, the story and script are at best "VERY BLAND" to "POOR." The inept direction makes it impossible for this feature to succeed in any way. The 3D was of no use whatever. Just a way to grab more money from the customer. Julianne Moore, who should win an Oscar for STILL ALICE, is out of her element and Jeff Bridges is totally ludicrous in this forced performance in which he speaks as if he had some sort of impediment. Never have I seen Bridges give a bad performance till NOW. The cast is a great one, but they are all mediocre to bad. In defense of the actors, one can't give worthy performances when the material is bad plus having to work with a director who would't be able to work his way out of a paper bag. Haven't we had enough of this sort of nonsense? I for one will check really carefully not to get into such a sleeper again. I actually heard snoring during the film. That says it all! This film will definitely flop. AMEN!
