The title for THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE comes from a 19th century French symphonic work. It is a great musical piece which makes one h*** of a great title for a feature, but sadly I can't say the same for the film. We have so many films of the very same genre that I have just lost interest in them. SORCERER does visually provide some great moments, but most everything is predictable, oftentimes pretty lame. Nicholas Cage is definitely NOT at his best in this action thriller of sorts. He works much better when playing the average man in dramatic films such as his Oscar Winning Turn in Leaving Las Vegas or the more recent JOE which I totally loved and saw three times. OMG! Who cares if another city is saved from evil forces! ENOUGH ALREADY!
