    The Two Faces of January

" TWO FACES " is from a novel by Patricia Highsmith who was all the rage in the 40's and 50's with novels like 'Strangers on a Train' and my favourite, 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' being adapted for the screen. As is usual in film adaptations of her work, the photography is stunning and must be so as we are usually in some exotic locale. Let me state straight away to expect a drama that will unfold at a pretty slow pace. So if this sort of thing irritates you, don't see the film.

Exactly as in " The Talented...", the film presents us with murder, a sense of persons with no morality (as Matt Damom in Mr. Ripley) along with Miss Highsmith's usual theme of pretending to be what you are not, in other words putting on a double face. This will lead to some high suspense. Kristen, Viggo and Oscar Isaac are excellent in a sort of cat and mouse game that is delicious. The film is made with much love and care, thus we get some startling features cinematically that only add to the film as a whole! This Highsmith adaptation is again very much to my taste.
