The Woman in Gold

I continue to be amazed at the research and finding of new and remarkable story lines to be played out on the big screen. Although the "story" based on fact, is not a new concept, it still holds its own by stellar performances, the backdrop of Vienna and attitude of its people plus a captivating interest in the plot as the story flashes back and forth through sadness, joy, difficulties and beauty. Justice and restitution are more clearly defined. The Weinstein Company never produces bad films and the music itself (Hans Zimmer) is always heartfelt and beautiful as is Schoenberg, whose music is substantially intertwined in the story, helping to propel it forward. These stories must be told lest we forget any tragic soul who has ever been degraded, cast aside, exposed to inhumanity, horrified or captured only to be killed; solely due to differences. Young people must see this to witness what persecution really entails. If I had to give advice to a younger version of myself, it would probably be to live in the moment with hope; but to live without fear-that is paramount. Have the courage of your convictions.
