    To Be Takei

TO BE TAKEI is a phenomenal piece of documentary film making that chronicles one of the best loved actors, activists, now internet guru and former star of the Original Star Trek on television. Though never ever a trekkie, this film hardly deals with just the phenomenon that was that almost tacky first view of Star Trek. It's pretty disheartening to discover the horrible plight of Takei and all Japanese during WWII, but the documentary focuses on a great deal more. It is the fascinating look at a 77 year old who by his own will has risen to a place of male power and role model, to my mind, for a specific group, but in fact, for all humanity. Along with his partner, this dynamic duo have done and are doing so much good for LGBT causes. Now here is a man to celebrate.
