Underworld: Awakening

I give this movie a high rating because it's an absolutely dynamite episode in the Underworld series. It's loud, incredibly violent, and has Kate Beckinsale kicking Lycan and human butt in practically every scene... and looking great while doing it. The movie is relatively short, yet by the end I was exhausted by the relentless, over-the-top action and pounding soundtrack. If you are not a fan of the first two Underworld movies, this one may not impress you... in fact you may not get the point at all as the story development is quite thin, and the opening recap of the first two movies goes by in a couple of eyeblinks. However the effects are great and the action is great, and the movie keeps things wide open for further sequels. Note that I saw this in IMAX 3-D, and for nearly the first time every I DID NOT hate the 3-D addition. While I don't think the 3-D added much, neither did it take away from the film... images and action were still clear and bright, even though they were shot mostly at night or on dark sets.
