My husband and I both thought it was an unexpectedly dark, disgusting film full of negativity and unnecessary violence. Unfortunately, we saw it not knowing anything about the story and feel bad for those others who did the same. If you're looking for a family movie, one that has values or to come out feeling good, don't see it. We didn't find body parts being hacked apart, rape, or soft porn as entertaining and didn't expect this film to be so harsh. If you like a warped film, then see it. At any rate, I sure hope kids don't see it as it contains abrasive adult material.

Though I agree with you that this isn't for kids I wouldn't summarize this movie as "full of unnecessary violence" or "body parts being hacked apart, rape, or soft porn". Even if you haven't read the story (I still have yet to read it) this movie's message is very clear. People looking only on the surface may find this film offensive since it probes some pretty touchy parts about being human. This isn't a "happy ending, good guys beat the bad guys" kinda film. It's a thinking film. Which in itself is very refreshing from being spoon fed the average 2-dimentional stories. (9/10)
I couldn't agree more! I walked out after almost 60 minutes, and regret waiting that long!
Read the book and if you hate it then don't watch it. I believe parents wouldn't let their kids watch a rated R movie [...] Why don't you look and see what it's about don't just watch the trailer then see it.
It's too bad this movie has to suffer a negative review because you [didn't] check the ratings before watching. It's rated 18A and with a warning to parents that says "Extreme violence, offensive language, nudity, sexual content, explicit sex" - I'd say it's pretty obvious that it's NOT a family movie. Check the rating next time. Please.
I don't know if you understand ratings or not but it was an 18A film. Rated this way for extreme violence, offensive language, and scenes with sexual images. No this isn't a family film and it isn't for young kids, but neither are half the movies that are released these days. This movie was originated from a comic book, and I don't know if you've ever picked one up in your life but some of them are extremely violent and those shouldn't be read by children either, and yet they are. So if you want to come out of the movie feeling good about life and thinking that nothing this bad ever happens and don't enjoy looking for the message given in the movie then go see a Disney cartoon.
