"Bearing the Unbearable" is a direct quote from Cheryl Strayed, that I found on a video on her website. This woman had lost all of her self-respect and her extreme way of getting it back practically one small step at a time, took uncommon courage, uncommon drive and it appears, divine intervention. Her quest is a great inspiration to anyone who feels they can't accomplish magnificent feats through their own sheer will and determination. Reese Witherspoon has a heart of gold as herself and her obvious commitment to this movie is what makes it believable. I've no doubt she did things in this movie she may never do again, out of friendship for Cheryl and all women who overcome such insurmountable odds, i.e. ; those that brought Cheryl to her vision quest. A very gutsy portrayal by Reese and what about Laura Dern!? Amazing actress, her performances are always so raw and sincere but this one I think surpasses all the ones that preceded it. And directed by one of our Quebecers, Jean-Marc Vallee! Go Jean-Marc! He sure is making quite a prestigious name for himself in Hollywood and in Europe as well. I believe you will appreciate this movie if you decide to go, there's surely one scene or another that will grab you. Some say they found it long, I personally didn't want it to end. See for yourself.
