This film I found to be about letting go of shame and making way for the advent of pleasure. The writer for this film had tended to have some fascination towards men who operate the shady ends of society and the handicapped women who had help put them back to the brink. It also had a strong and emotional aspect as well. What had distinguished in this film Rust and Bone here that the director didn't seem to be afraid to have this movie to be sentimental. It also to me had a visual command and was considered to have a powerful narrative undertow of its own. Prospects for a drama about the relationship between a homeless fighter and legless women seem indeed Jacques Audiard had showed he can turn seemingly impossible material into full blown entertainment. It had also been an epic and very emotional film towards a journey of two broken people to become all of which they are truly capable after browsing intense trials and navigating tough terrain of the soul. I found also about his film he made to be shot and acted in such a down to earth naturalistic manner that the story and characters itself had convinced many of us of their emotional truth. I found this film to me was a melodrama and not melodramatic.
