    Out of Africa

Sydney Pollack, both an actor and super director hit gold when he made this basically true story of the Danish writer on whose adventures in Africa the movie is based. Pollack won Best Director but vowed he would never undertake such a sweeping epic again. Meryl, Robert and Oscar Nominee Klaus Maria Brandauer are at their best in a movie that has everything going for it: from the screenplay, cinematography, editing, art and set decoration, costumes... the film is masterful. It was one of Meryl Streep's 17 Oscar Nominations and she was as impressive as ever. The film is long at two and a half hours plus, but the results are stunning. For those with little intelligence or intellect, they could easily take a hike on a short peer.
