Chess might be the springboard that changes the course of a family, but all the underlying facets of this lovely film must be enjoyed and savoured. With a wonderful story and screen play, directed by the truly talented Mira Nair, this touching portrait of life in a small Ugandan town is a winner. Kudos to Lupita Nyong'o and David Oyelowo and the young 10 year old girl who make it all look so authentic as we witness the attempt to make a dream come true.
