    The Graduate

Mike Nichols won Best director over Canadian Norman Jewison who directed the Best Film of 1966, In The Heat of the Night. This is taking nothing away from The Graduate, Dustin Hoffman's first film in which he plays a good lad who suddenly wants to sow some wild oats... and does he ever. Hoffman was nominated for an Oscar as the was Anne Bancroft as the notorious Mrs. Robinson and Catherine Ross as her daughter. In the long scheme of things he never had an inkling he would fall so hard for a sweet young thing who enters his life. It's all a confounding, brilliant piece of film making, never knowing what to expect from beginning to the vey, very end!
