I went to see this film knowing little about it; I thought it was a political thriller about cold corruption in political circles. Well, it is, but specifically about the UN and other aid groups involved in human trafficking and women used as sex/rape slaves. It is a powerful film that more people need to see, like Atom Egoyan's film Ararat. It clearly makes the case that violence against women is not "rough sex", it's cruel torture committed by thoroughly corrupted individuals from anywhere in the world, and the local communities that fear them so much that they cannot, will not, oppose them. If you care about these matters go see this film. Although the main character, played by Rachel Weisz, is at times a little too naive for my taste, I have to hand it to this actress for taking on a role in a story that is not meant to charm its audience in any way. Kudos to her, the cast and the filmmakers.
