A good film but in terms of historical accuracy or truth, that is another matter. The survival of Anastasia, daughter of Czar Nicholas II is highly unlikely, but director Anatole Litvak tries, in every way, to convince us that the details are utter truth. Be that as it may, the film gets high marks for the return of Ingrid Bergman to Hollywood after an exile of six or seven years. In 1956, she easily won her second Oscar as Best Actress, later adding a third in the seventies for Death on the Nile.
